Terms of Use
Last updated: July 3, 2026 · Early-access version
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Retro, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Data Usage Policy. If you don't agree with something here, please don't use Retro. Using the platform after we update these terms means you accept the updated version.
2. Eligibility & Age Requirements
Retro is designed for a broad audience, but you must provide an accurate birthday when signing up. If you are under 13, you may only use Retro with a parent or guardian's permission and supervision. We may apply extra safety limits to younger accounts. If you're under the age of digital consent where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
3. User Accounts & Security
You're responsible for your account. Keep your password private, don't share your account, and don't use someone else's. Pick a username that isn't your real name and doesn't impersonate anyone. If you think your account has been compromised, contact staff right away (via Discord for now — see Section 12). We may reclaim usernames that are inactive, misleading, or violate these terms.
4. Code of Conduct
Retro should be a fun, safe place. When using the platform you agree not to:
- Harass, bully, threaten, or discriminate against other users.
- Post content that is sexual, hateful, violent, or otherwise inappropriate for a platform with young users.
- Scam, phish, or attempt to steal accounts, items, or Retrobux.
- Exploit bugs, use cheats, bots, or automation, or attempt to attack or overload our services.
- Share other people's personal information without consent.
Breaking these rules can lead to warnings, content removal, or account termination (Section 8).
5. Retrobux & Virtual Purchases
Retrobux is Retro's virtual currency. Important things to understand:
- Retrobux has no real-world cash value. It cannot be exchanged for money, sold, or cashed out, on or off the platform.
- Retrobux and virtual item purchases are non-refundable once delivered.
- Payments are not automated yet — all purchases (including membership tiers) are currently handled manually by staff via Discord. Only trust purchase instructions from official staff in the official server.
- Retrobux and items are a limited license to use features within Retro, not property. Balances may be adjusted to correct errors, fraud, or abuse.
6. User-Generated Content & Licensing
You keep ownership of content you create on Retro (avatars, items, experiences, posts). By uploading it, you give Retro a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content so the platform can function. Don't upload content you don't have the rights to. We can remove content that violates these terms or someone else's rights.
7. Intellectual Property
The Retro name, wordmark, and site design belong to the Retro project. Retro is an independent, fan-made project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Roblox Corporation. Roblox is a trademark of Roblox Corporation. References to Roblox, Polytoria, or Retrimo are for inspiration/comparison only.
8. Termination of Accounts
We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, harm other users, or harm the platform — with or without prior warning depending on severity. You can stop using Retro or ask us to delete your account at any time. Terminated accounts forfeit their Retrobux, items, and memberships; because everything is virtual with no cash value, no compensation is owed.
9. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
Retro is provided "as is" and "as available," especially during early access — features may break, change, or disappear, and data may occasionally be reset. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Retro and its volunteers aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (if anything).
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the Retro project operates. Placeholder: the specific jurisdiction will be named here before public launch. Disputes should first be raised informally with staff so we can try to fix the problem.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as Retro develops. For significant changes we'll post a notice on the site. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms? Reach the team via the official Retro Discord server (invite link coming soon — placeholder) or the Help Center once it launches.
